Past, Present, and Future are part of humanity and every human life.
But it is very important to understand their meaning, or rather their significance when it comes to our life.
The past, what has been and gone, is a valuable source of experiences and lessons that we can use to find the right path we will take. It is a treasury of dear memories of everything we have experienced, which we fondly remember from time to time.
However, what has been and gone is actually the only value of the past, and that’s where it all ends. What has been and gone actually has absolutely no impact on our present life.
So it is very important to understand that everything behind us should stay there.
Don’t allow yourself to live trapped in the past, don’t lament missed opportunities, don’t despair over lost possibilities and wrong decisions. Leave everything that has been behind and don’t look back, because the only thing that matters and makes sense is this present moment.
“People who dwell on the past have no future.”
(Hermione Gingold)
The future is what awaits us and what we have yet to experience, live, and feel.
The future is ahead of us, and the plain truth is that we cannot be sure if it will even happen. That’s why we can conclude that it is pointless to live and waste energy thinking about what (maybe) lies ahead. No matter how detailed, careful, and meticulous we make plans, there is absolutely no guarantee that any of it will come to pass.
When we talk about the future and the pointlessness of thinking about it, we certainly don’t mean that planning and creating visions to improve our situation or our own lives are unnecessary. However, it is crucial to keep in mind that the present moment has the greatest power, and in that sense, we should act.
“We are only happy when we do not demand anything from tomorrow and receive with gratitude what today brings.”
(Herman Hesse)
The present, the moment we are experiencing right now, is the most valuable and precious part of life. It is the greatest source of pleasure and satisfaction.
It’s nice to reminisce about the past, but memories are just memories, and they fade and disappear over time.
If we dream about the future, sooner or later, we will wake up from the dream and still find ourselves in the present. So, the present, this very moment, is the jewel we should cherish, protect, and polish.
And finally, remember the most important thing:
Occasionally, recall the beautiful moments you’ve experienced in life, but leave the past behind.
Take care of improving your own life in a way that, according to your abilities, you slowly and surely pave the way to the future, but try to worry less about what the future will be like!
Enjoy what is happening right now.
“The secret of a healthy life for the mind and body is not to mourn the past, not to worry about the future, or not to anticipate troubles, but to live wisely and earnestly in the present.”
(Buddha)
